Retreat Center · UDDEN 1
Lakeside retreat in Bergslagen's forests, Sweden—yoga, meditation, and conscious gatherings by Storsjön.
Udden Retreat occupies a waterfront setting in Bergslagen, the forested heart of central Sweden, where Storsjön's waters meet quiet woodland trails. The retreat operates seven rooms—named Abbe, Tim, Ellen, Emil, Felicia, Isac, and My—each with views toward the lake or garden, ranging from shared-bath twin rooms to private suites. Paulina Lilleberg, trained in raw food preparation, oversees the kitchen, offering seasonally adapted vegetarian meals described by guests as both nourishing and carefully made.
The daily rhythm begins before dawn with meditation as the sun rises over the water, followed by breakfast on the lakeside terrace. Guests may join mindfulness yoga, body-scanning sessions, evening meditation, or simply rest in the retreat's quiet. A wood-fired sauna with lake access sits among the grounds. The space welcomes both individual retreatants seeking stillness and organized programs—from silent retreats led by mindfulness instructor Maria Björkman to multi-day seminars.
In 2026, Udden hosts the Women's Ways seminars, shamanic teachings from the Twisted Hair Grandmothers compiled by Rose ThunderEagle Fink. Two sessions—Red Mist (June 3–7) and Closing the Rose (June 10–14)—explore the phases and power of women's lives through ancient ceremony and practice. Past offerings have included Freemove Yoga trainings, couple's retreats focused on tantra and intimacy, and silent weekends built around meditation, gentle movement, and the land itself.
Paulina and Janne, who live and work on the property, are known for their warmth and attention to detail. Guests consistently note the personal care, the quality of the food, and the way the hosts create conditions for both rest and transformation. The retreat accepts bookings year-round, with flexible scheduling in autumn and winter; it is accessible by train to nearby Skinnskatteberg, and offers EV charging for those arriving by car.
